I composed this piece for clarinetist Sun Hee Lee that wanted a unique clarinet quintet with basses instead of a traditional string quartet, and she insisted that the basses needed to have some moments to spin their instruments. Inspired by this concept, I created this piece with a spiraling, spinning-out quality that features some fun double bass acrobatics as well.
