Welcome to the consortium for a new work for bass clarinet and piano by Larkin Sanders! This consortium will be open until January 8, 2025.
"I composed Toil and Trouble with the advancing clarinetist in mind. I wanted to write something that is very playable, very enjoyable, and easy to listen to. The piece begins as spooky and mysterious as its namesake (from the “Cauldron Scene” of Shakespeare’s MacBeth) with a dorian theme that becomes twisted and troublesome as the piece progresses and is met with a surprise, choose-your-own ending! It is my hope that this work brings joy to clarinetists of varying abilities, allowing everyone involved the opportunity to tap into their spooky side."
