Instrumentation: solo bassoon
Duration: 8 minutes
I composed this piece for Genevieve Beaulieu in 2012. The title "Yellow Smoke" refers to a section of TS Eliot's Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock where Eliot uses a metaphor of yellow smoke to describe a wandering cat. This theme and variations for solo bassoon were inspired by the various qualities of smoke and cats simultaneously, though the variations have smokey titles.
